Create a Discount On Your Subscription Product

We show you how to create auto-delivery discounts on your products to encourage more frequent repeat shopping. Let’s get started.

Part of your core, auto-delivery sales pitch might be to include a small reward for those who order your product more frequently. In our example below, we offer a bigger discount for those who purchase weekly than if they just brought the product once.

This offers your customers more incentive to set up their subscription with you, lowering the barrier of repurchase and turning them into a repeat customer!

How to create a discount on your subscription product:

Open up the product in the cpanel of Maropost Commerce Cloud.

Scroll down to “Extra Options”.

Currently, your product might look like this – with the additional price set to zero (0.00).

Go ahead and add a discount to each line.

Note: You must add a “-” sign to reduce the price as you can see in the next screenshot.

Once you’re finished setting up the discount, save the product. When you view the product on the front end you’ll see the pricing clearly reflected.

Pricing Promotions

If you are a Maropost Commerce Cloud merchant and you use the pricing promotion tool to create all your sales, you need to be aware that the discount you populate in the Extra Options will be taken off the product price when on promotion.

If you use the Promo Price A you need to be aware that the discount you populate in Extra Options will be taken off the product price when on promotion.

Pricing On Subscription Renewal

Because your customer purchased a subscription when this product was on sale, this will be the price that they continue to purchase the subscription on.

To avoid this, we recommend you set your subscriptions discounts under “Addition Costs” to “0.00” then when the sale ends re-import them via CSV – see documentation on that.

Exclude these products from your sale.
